Maximum contact density matched by compact size

With the new Han® Q High Density, HARTING is bringing a new rectangular connector for signal contacts on to the market which delivers the highest contact density to date in the compact Han® 3A size range. 21 D-Sub contacts are used, of which one is designed as a leading contact.

Developing connectors for harsh ambient conditions is a key preoccupation at HARTING. It is not always enough for the interface to be dust proof, dirt proof and water proof - it must also be easy to handle in challenging ambient conditions. So the Han® Q High Density must be a signal connector for environments in which gloves are worn, which is not possible with the conventional D-Sub connector. The new connector meets this requirement perfectly because it can be used in all housing models of the HARTING Han® 3A size. The extensive range of housing types comprises metal and plastic housings for use in interior and exterior environments, EMC housings for high screening attenuation applications and stainless steel housings for extreme requirements such as are typical of the food industry, for example.

The connector (both AC and DC modes) operates in the safety extra-low voltage field, i.e. at 50 V AC and 120 V DC. The current load capacity depends to a great extent on the contacts and cables employed. With regard to turned D-Sub contacts for 0.56 mm², the current load capacity is 40°C and approx. 6.5 A.
