The HARTING Technology Group continues to focus squarely on growth: As part of its worldwide expansion, the company plans to substantially enlarge its development and production capacities at its Swiss plant in Biel. This marks another step forward in the continuing development of one of HARTING’s most important locations.

An application has been made to the municipal authority in Biel to purchase the site adjacent to the existing production plant.

“By expanding our presence in Biel in this way, we are writing another decisive chapter in our success story in Switzerland,” said a delighted Dietmar Harting, general partner and proprietor of the HARTING Technology Group. The company just recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of its Swiss subsidiary, HARTING AG. Commenting on the planned increase in capacities in Biel, Dietmar Harting explained: “Recent years have seen a considerable increase in worldwide demand for our quality products.”

Operations at HARTING AG were initially concentrated on the production and distribution of connectors, traditionally the core business of the HARTING Technology Group. Later in 2004 HARTING chose Switzerland as a location to establish its Mitronics business unit which employs microtechnology to develop and manufacture customer-specific MID substrates for applications in medical technology, automobile manufacturing and sensor systems.

According to Albert Birkicht, Managing Director of HARTING AG, conditions are ideal to develop capacities in Biel. “The fact that we live in a multi-lingual region gives us some unique advantages in both personnel recruitment and marketing,” Birkicht explained with satisfaction. Thanks to the numerous mechatronics and microtechnology training centers located in the region, there is also no shortage of skilled employees.

HARTING AG is also already involved in the precision engineering and medical technology clusters in and around Biel, two of the key strategic elements of economic policy in the Canton of Bern. Albert Birkicht has no doubt: “By increasing its development, production and distribution capacities including marketing, HARTING will be able once again to reinforce its role as a driving force behind the advancement of business and industry in Biel.”
